WHO IS THE SLAYER? NEW CRYPTIC VIDEO MAY PROVIDE CLUES

It's been the question all season-long: Who is the Slayer?

Weekly, the contestants have been tormented by an ominous figure known only as the "Slayer" who appears on-screen - anonymously - to throw twists and challenges at the performers.

From Duet Week to Resurrection Week and beyond, the Slayer has not made it easy for anyone to walk out of Keglers Bar with the grand prize.

This week at the Semi Finals, however, singers seem to have been given the most creepy message to date. There was no twist - and only a mashup of previous Slayer moments accompanied by cryptic visuals.

Singers have had theories throughout the season on who they believe the Slayer to be.

1. First up on the Slayer guess list: Ryan Maynard, the host.

"It would be too obvious, wouldn't it?" he said when asked about the rumours.

"I feel like, if anything, I'm a red herring. Of course I would do something like this - I'd love to do something like this -- but it's not me. Or is it?"

Singers think the deep voice behind the videos and the host's creative involvement with the show make him a prime suspect.

2. The Judges - All of them? One of them?! Any of them?!!!

"I think I scared a lot of people by writing 'XOXO, Kelsey' on a Facebook post the week I was sick - which is never something I thought I would say," said Kelsey, Slay the Stage Judge.

With Corey Chiasson making appearances that seem to be more common towards the end of the show, it would lead many to believe she is the Slayer, herself. Rumours are swirling about her not being able to attend the Finale. Could it be because she's attending the Finale as the Slayer?

We also know Jamie Hache is 'the mean one', but how mean? Mean enough to invite 7 competitors to a formal party where they're invited to punish each other in the name of greed?

"I thought it was Jamie for a long while," commented contestant Cecilia.

Caitlin Taylor worked very closely with the Slayer to bring about British Invasion Week, and was even called out by the Slayer to "tell the new king they say hello" . . . could she be the Slayer?

3. This one surprises most... How about contestant Corey?

Corey is the only singer in the competition who was in the first Slay the Stage back in 2017. When asked about his time at Slay the Stage by contestants, he allegedly misspoke about where he finished in the competition.

This started a conspiracy that spans the entire cast of Slay the Stage 2023, with Daisy and Chico leading the charge.

"It's okay. I know your secret Corey," said Daisy about the rumour. "Chico and I know. We don't think we know. We know," she added.

Could the Top 4 really be the Top 3 if one of them is actually the Slayer?

4. Could they be hiding in the audience?

The Slayer paranoia seems to infect everyone who attends Slay the Stage on Saturday nights. Staff and contestants are often pointing out audience members who look conspicuous or distinctly dressed.

5. Is it Canadian Juno Award-winner Rêve?

Plausibly, Rêve would want to ensure her opener is a singer of high calibre who knows how to slay it. The singer performs live on September 2nd, and maybe the Canadian popstar has been behind all the Slayer's tricks all along?

All roads point to the Grand Finale on Saturday, September 26th - where hopefully - our minds will be put at ease, and we finally find out who keeps interrupting the show each week, tormenting our performers and taking us on a thrill ride.
