CONTESTANTS OFFER JUDGES THEIR SEMI FINALS PLAYLIST IN CLASSIC FASHION

Does anybody still listen to CDs?

Years ago, record labels would receive hundreds of unsolicited mixtapes from aspiring artists hoping to get their shot at musical stardom.

For the five remaining singers at Slay the Stage, presenting their "mixtape" would be the final challenge in front of them, all related to one thing that every judge has talked about all season long: song choice.

Each judge opened a CD case, containing a track and artist written in permanent marker, like a classic mixtape.

The judges argued about which song they wanted to hear, each holding the potential fate of the singer before them.

"I thought long and hard about what I was going to give you," said Cecilia, before the judges selected Angel by Sarah McLachlan for the semi-finalist turned finalist.

"Inside each of these CD cases is a different piece of my heart," said Luna about her three song choices, which produced an argument at the table over what the judges would get to listen to first.

"If we don't like it, we can just Red Card her," said Corey.

The judges wanted to hear Caitlan's thought process on her song choices.

"I wanted to give you guys songs from different genres, so that you would have something good to pick from each one," she explained.

Daisy's week had been plagued with a health-scare, when the singer found out she had a blood clot. She explained to the judges what she had been through that week, while unveiling her mixtape to the judges.

The judges issued her well wishes, and she was able to get through her performance.

Corey's picks had the judges in mind. "I have an idea of what you might pick," he said, "but I also made sure to pick three songs that I have made my own in some way."

The only singer who ended up picking up a Red Card after the Judges' picks was Caitlan, who hadn't been Red-Carded since Week 2.

The judges wanted more from the backing track in Titanium, and made clear it wasn't due to Caitlan's efforts.

The four singers who made it into the Grand Finale are Caitlan, Corey, Cecilia and Luna.

The Grand Finale takes place Saturday, August 26th live at Keglers, and live-streamed on Facebook.
